Memory Master

My little Memory Master!
I am so thankful that I get to homeschool my girls! It is a blessing from God and I am ashamed to say that many days I forget what a gift from God it is! God uses Ivy and Hayley to push me toward Him in so many ways! Today, Ivy passed her Memory Master test! God was so kind to help her think clearly and receite all the material!

Ivy, I'm proud of the work God is doing in your heart and your mind!

I saw this on another blog and thought it was a good summary of what a memory master is:

Classical Conversations defines a memory master as follows:
       A “Memory Master” is an honor bestowed on Foundations students who have mastered all of the. memory work during the twenty-four weeks of Foundations class. We define “mastery” of the information as having committed the information to long-term memory, which means we do not cram for a single test and then forget it. We do not focus on test scores, but on what is really in their head to stay.
The amount of information we ask the students to recite is lengthy. This year is Cycle 3, so students will be reciting:
      • The entire timeline of 160 events from creation to modern times;
      • Twenty-four history sentences about U.S. history
      • Twenty-four science questions and answers covering human anatomy, chemistry, and origins;
      • Multiplication tables through the fifteens plus squares and cubes, conversions, and math laws;
      • All fifty states and their capitals plus seventy physical features on the U.S. map;
      • Twenty-four definitions or lists from English grammar
      • Latin vocabulary lists and John 1:1–7 in Latin; and
      • The forty-four U.S. presidents
Students recite all of this to their parent, to another Foundations parent a week later, to their tutor (later), and finally to their director.

Pic from Fall 2014

A dear friend took our pictures last fall and gave us copies this past weekend. He did a great job! Thankful to have some pictures of us on the seminary campus!

Hope and Issiah's dad took these pictures! We love the Iversons! We will miss them when we move!

Swim Team

Ivy and her good friend Hope
 I'm thankful Ivy has been able to be a part of the seminary swim team this year! She has learned a lot and been able to spend time with some amazing people. It was hard to get up and be at the pool at 8:00 on Saturday mornings. It was hard to swim for an hour and a half but Ivy has improved SO much! Ivy, I'm so proud that you didn't give up. I'm so thankful God helped you keep pushing yourself! You are a great swimmer!

Hayley and Issiah cheering on their siblings!
